Hey there! I'm Roland, and welcome to my site.
I currently work as a programmer at Sucker Punch, mostly developing tools and working on our dialogue pipeline. Before that, I worked at Amazon Fire TV for a couple years. I've been having a good time doing gamedev, though.
Over the years I've done some cool stuff that I'm pretty proud of. Some of my favorite projects have been:
- Reverse-engineering the N64 game Beetle Adventure Racing and implementing a renderer for it into noclip.website. I also ended up reverse-engineering the checkpointing code and some bits of the track data format for the speedrunning community.
- Creating a silly dinosaur-themed EP together with a friend (as a project for a class on dinosaurs). We also made two music videos to go along with it!
- Developing 3 small games - one on my own and two with friends. (I wrote the music for all of them too!)
- Putting together a mixtape of cool Japanese music that sounds like Katamari Damacy soundtracks.
- Writing a little raytracer that renders within the surface of a 4D hypersphere. (I've also made an interactive version, though you have to download it and build it yourself.)
One of the main things I'm hoping to put on this site is . For now, I only have this one little post - consider it a test run, maybe - but hopefully there will be more in the future!
You can find me in a variety of other places on the web:
- GitHub For programming or "keyboard jazz" as they call it.
- YouTube Mostly music uploads here. I have good taste though so you should check it out.
- SoundCloud I've got some original music here and then a mashup that inexplicably has uh... 30k plays, wow.
- Backloggd & Letterboxd For video game and film reviews. Only just started doing these recently. It's fun!
- Twitter Don't really use this much but every once in a while I am struck by the desire to tweet.
- itch.io For the few little games I've made on my own.
- Mastodon I like Mastodon a lot but it really hasn't gained traction. Would like to post more here but not much going on currently.
- Reddit Nah, you're not getting this one. Too embarrassing.
